RIP Troy Davis
I don’t really have much to say, as I said it all on twitter last night. I just hope that people see the bigger picture. It was amazing to hear about the many marches for justice that people participated in, in honor of his execution. Hearing about the students at Howard University who were arrested for this cause just reminds me of all the historical movements that my father partook in; all the stories he was able to tell me. This fight, reminded me of his fight. I pray that those who participated and voiced such strong opinions on the matter, continue to fight. Troy Davis’ execution does not equal defeat. It just means we as people need to fight harder. Nothing will end if we don’t hold strong and true to what we genuinely believe in. Yesterday, everyone discussed the injustices of the “Justice” System. Today, nothing has changed. The system is still as unjust as it was yesterday. DO NOT GIVE UP THE FIGHT. Continue to educate, march, form rallies, start movements. Nothing happens overnight. But with the right amount of determination and heart, things will happen.
Troy Davis is not an individual, but a story. This serves as a reminder to us that there is so much more to fight for within America.
